In Hollow Knight you basically have a "soul-o-meter" which you can fill by hitting enemies. Then either focus it to restore health, or use for magic, which so far in my gameplay only means shooting some projectile. The ingame money, which apparently called "Geo" is a different stuff. It's your regular gold coins dropped by enemies what you can spend on shits.
Anyway the way the game deals with health/death kinda ruined it for me. Because otherwise it's a nice game. Like really it is not enough you fight with some obnoxious boss, you practically have to fight it without any chance to restore your health. As I said you need to focus the soul the restore health, which means you need to hold the button for few seconds until the character restores one healthbar(meanwhile standing at one spot cause you can't move while doing that). But by the time your bug does it, the next attack comes with 100% chance hitting you rendering your healing efforts useless.
So yeah, most bossfights have some means to let you restore (even if just a tiny fraction) your health to some extent. Here it is almost impossible. And I don't have the mood to travel back, defeat my evil soul, and try again with the boss.
Ori and the Blind Forest was great. It had the right amount of difficulty and made be push myself further to get new abilities and reach new places. I fucked up there several times, and made me butthurt. But not to the extent where I was about to quit because don't want to invest time and effort for all the bullshits, where every tasks, every jump, every fight the most basic enemies just become chores. And I don't feel all this bullshitting worth the effort, and whatever items or shit I get. Or just literally fighting to be able to save the fucking game, otherwise have to walk back to the other side for the area. I guess Hollow Knight is just trying to be "Hard". Basically punishing you in the most vile ways for a "metroidvanian" game.
So really, I don't know when I just gonna quit because it just doesn't worth my time and effort.
